I am big fan of one shot scene. You know those shots that have no cuts just continuing action like in the fight sequence in the Korean movie "Old Boy" or the scene when Robert De Niro come out of the locker room in "Raging Bull". In my video production class I try to accomplished a one shot scene but found out it was harder than I imagine and gave up on it.
Weezer's Music Video Undone is an excellent example of what i try to accomplish but fail.
Goldfrapp's Happiness is more complicated but it's amazing what they accomplished.
the weezer is not a one cut as you can see when you move from hall way to studio, you never see the camera turn upside down yet the studio is and you see the camera right its self.. also it is cut as the music was not actually being played as you can see in the beginning when you hear the bass yet he is not playing it.
ReplyDeleteIn the second video notice how the jumper will go behind an object and be obscured for a moment and how the singer shows up in costumes through out. No way was that done with one cut.. it was just edited together really well.
I would doubt seriously that any movies now employ a onecut method of shooting but that what you are really seeing is extremely good editing.
